Myofunctional Therapy
At Speak Eat Smile Therapy, our Myofunctional Therapy is more than just “mouth exercises” — it’s a fun, functional way to build strong foundational skills that support healthy speech, eating, breathing, and overall oral health. We offer Myofunctional Therapy for kids through adults, tailoring each plan to your age, needs, and daily routines.
Why Myofunctional Therapy Matters
Myofunctional Therapy helps retrain the muscles of the lips, tongue, jaw, cheeks, and face — muscles that play a key role in swallowing, chewing, speech, proper tongue posture, and nasal breathing.
When oral and orofacial muscles don’t work optimally, it can lead to issues such as tongue-thrust, open mouth posture and mouth breathing, inefficient swallowing or chewing, or difficulty with clarity in speech.
With Myofunctional Therapy, we work to correct those patterns — improving not just function, but comfort, oral posture, and overall facial muscle coordination.
What to Expect
-

Individualized evaluation & treatment plan
We begin with a thorough assessment of your or your child’s oral / facial muscle function. Based on that, we design a custom treatment plan focused on your goals. (e.g., improving tongue posture, swallowing, speech clarity, chewing, or breathing.)
-

Therapy that’s functional — and fun
Our sessions involve playful, meaningful activities and exercises. We embed our exercises into real-life, functional tasks (mealtime, speaking practice, breathing exercises), so therapy feels natural, not forced.
-

Home-based practice & carryover
Because real change happens between sessions, we empower families and clients with simple, doable home exercises and strategies — so progress continues beyond our sessions.
-

All ages welcome
kids to adults. Whether a young child learning proper oral posture, a teen working on speech clarity, or an adult needing support for swallowing or breathing — Myofunctional Therapy can benefit you.
